The Art of Aging Disgracefully

Funny Boomer Shirts, Aging Humor Gifts & the Spirit Behind Geezer T’s

My twin brothers, est. 1958, shown here not acting their age and wearing my Born to be Wild t shirts in a not at all ironic way

Grace Is Overrated

They say aging gracefully is an art. I say it’s a cover-up. The real masterpiece is aging disgracefully — with laughter, defiance, and a closet full of T-shirts that prove we’re still rocking. Baby Boomers never intend to get OLD.

Our generation grew up with music that shook the world, jokes that pushed buttons, and ideals that still echo through the decades. We questioned authority, built empires, raised kids, some of whom find our sense of humor appallingly incorrect. Archy Bunker would give this generation fainting spells. I had one of the little snots call my innocent jest, “off color”! Imagine!

Aging disgracefully isn’t about rebellion. It’s about freedom — the freedom to laugh at yourself, to wear what makes you happy, and to celebrate survival with a grin.

Boomer Humor: Our Survival Skill

Let’s be honest — we were the original meme generation. We just didn’t have Wi-Fi.

Our humor has always been our armor, our bridge, and our therapy. It’s how we processed love, loss, disco, and the invention of kale chips. (Keep kale away from me, please!)

With the average Boomer now hovering around seventy, it’s no wonder joint-replacement surgery has become practically standard issue. Annual rates in the Western world sit at roughly 170 hip replacements and 120 knee replacements per 100,000 people — and rising, according to OECD and NCBI data. So yeah, statistically, half of us have had a joint replaced… and the other half just forgot where they left theirs in the ’70s.

As a 71-year-old artist, I get it — I’m short on Social Security income but long on stories, sarcasm, and a tribe of bionic friends who can out-dance their grandkids (after a good stretch). We may be patched, plated, and powered by caffeine, but our spirits are still beautifully unretired.

That’s why I created Geezer T’z — a line of funny Boomer shirts, hats, hoodies, and mugs that celebrates our quirks, our courage, and our refusal to fade quietly into the background. We may creak a little, but we’re still standing — and still laughing.

Disgraceful Is Beautiful

t’s okay that not every soul of my generation gets it. I didn’t design these for the conformists or the quietly content. Geezer T’z is for the loud laughers, the rule-benders, the ones who still crank up the music and question everything — even gravity, when getting off the couch.

These tees aren’t just jokes. They’re affirmations that say: We’re still here. We’re still funny. And we still make a difference. Our slogans, our anthems, our music changed the world. I’ll never forget my mom’s scandalized reaction to Jimi Hendrix’s rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner on the Woodstock album — I don’t think she ever recovered.

As a 71-year-old artist, I’m not chasing youth; I’m chasing truth. My hands may ache from too many late nights gripping my ipencil, but my heart is still loud, still curious, still full of rebellion wrapped in laughter. I create because I need to see women my age — and men, too — celebrated for their humor, their grit, and their unapologetic presence.

The art of growing old disgracefully is about showing up — in color, in humor, and in truth. It’s about owning every wrinkle and scar as proof of a life well-lived. It’s finding your rhythm again after joint surgery, laughing through retirement, and wearing your history like a badge of honor. We don’t fade into beige. We wear turquoise and mustard. We accessorize with peace signs. We remember when music meant rebellion. We are entitled to wear peace signs — and laugh about “joints” when they meant illegal recreation, not surgery.

A Love Letter to the Classics

Each design in my collection is a little bit memoir and a little bit mischief. From the Born to Be Wild tee to the retro Peace, Love & Rock ’n’ Roll editions, every piece is both a wink to the past and a nudge toward joy.

Geezer T’z was never about pretending to be young — it’s about celebrating that we made it this far with our humor (mostly) intact. Ours was the generation that grew up with guitars that spoke, quite literally — I still remember driving with my middle-school-aged son and watching his face light up as Peter Frampton’s “talking guitar” came alive on Do You Feel Like We Do (1976). It was pure magic — the sound of wonder passing from one generation to the next.

And now, thanks to digital music and streaming playlists, the youngers are rediscovering the very songs that raised us — the anthems that taught us to dream, protest, and fall in love with freedom. It may be our generational soundtrack, but we’re thrilled to share it. If our tees help someone under forty find their groove outside the Top 20, that’s a win for everyone. Because good music — like good design and good laughter — doesn’t expire; it just keeps finding new ears and new hearts.

Warning: may cause flashbacks, dance moves, or rebellion.

These tees were made for the ones who grew up with the needle on the record, the scent of incense, and lyrics I created a playlist that brings that vibe back—soulful, psychedelic, rebellious, and real. So whether you’re feelin’ groovy, born to be wild, or still standing after all these years… crank it.

Whether you’re a card-carrying Boomer or just digging the vintage, Geezer T’s has something for your wild side.
